Traditional or folk Music in Scotland is an important part of our culture and heritage and goes back hundreds, if not thousands, of years. Probably the best known traditional instruments in Scotland are Fiddle and Accordion but the flute and piano have always been important in this type of music too. As Scottish folk music has evolved into more modern versions, the saxophone has also been introduced at times as well as, occasionally, the clarinet. The clarinet is used more in the folk music of other countries along with the piano e.g. Klezmer Music. Country music can also be included in this genre and here the piano and flute are also important instruments.
